Specialty Pharmacist
Overview:
Pharmacists are now graduating with advanced degrees; the minimum is a doctorate in pharmacy. Students coming out of school are more educated than ever before and better prepared to make decisions that will require advanced problem-solving and clinical skills. However, because the role of a pharmacist expands across so many mediums, a pharmacist has the opportunity to further their education by completing a residency or specialize in one of five specialties: nuclear pharmacy, nutrition support pharmacy, oncology pharmacy, pharmacotherapy pharmacy (which has two subspecialties: cardiology and infectious disease), and psychiatric pharmacy. In addition, a pharmacist can also be recognized in geriatrics specialty practice and applied toxicology.
